Decarbon8-US is a philanthropic impact fund that uses donations and grants to invest in early stage companies whose technologies accelerate the transition to environmentally sustainable solutions.
 

Entrepreneurs apply in the spring and a team of selected investors, fellows, and experts choose 2-4 companies to receive funding in the fall. Each year Decarbon8-US has a different theme around decarbonization. All contributions are tax-deductible and made to our 501(c)(3) partner Realize Impact, who administers Decarbon8.
 

Our 2026 Decarbon8-US Fund is focused on Climate Resilience: Grid, Water, & Food. Climate change is already reshaping where and how people can live, grow food, and access basic resources. As extreme heat, drought, flooding, and storms intensify, protecting access to energy, water, and food is becoming as essential to climate action as reducing emissions.

Solutions could focus on: 

• Grid resilience — keeping energy systems running under stress and enabling more decentralized power

• Water security — securing supply through efficiency, monitoring, and distributed treatment

• Food security — enabling climate-adaptive production, distributed inputs, and alternative nutrition sources for a volatile climate
